Jeremy Piper grew up in Ravenna, Ohio and attended Ravenna High School.  While in high school, Jeremy participated in the marching band, concert band, and jazz band.  In marching band he held positions of Freshmen Representative, Sophomore Representative, Junior Captain, and Senior Captain.  He also was awarded the most prestigious honor that a high school music student can receive, the John Philip Sousa Award.  After graduating in the top ten of his high school class, Jeremy continued his music education at the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music in Berea, Ohio.

At Baldwin-Wallace, Jeremy majored in Music Composition, Music Theory, and an emphasis in Jazz Studies.  He studied piano with Dr. Robert Mayerovitch, organ with Dr. Margaret Scharf, conducting with Professor Dwight Oltman, composition with Dr. Loris Chobanian, and Jazz with Professor Greg Banaszak.  He was the principal keyboardist for the B-W Jazz Ensemble, B-W Jazz Combo, and B-W Wind Ensemble.

Jeremy was the first student in B-W history to conduct and premiere an original composition at a major Wind Ensemble concert as an enrolled student.  He entered this Wind Ensemble composition into the “G. Schirmer Young American’s Band Competition” and was one of nine finalists that received high praise from judges.  The following year Jeremy conducted and premiered a second Wind Ensemble composition at a major concert.  In addition to the Wind Ensemble premieres, he premiered three Jazz Ensemble compositions at major concerts while attending B-W.  Jeremy was also the first student at Baldwin-Wallace to compose his own piano concerto and compete with it in the annual concerto competition.  Jeremy graduated with honors from the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music in the year 2000.

Jeremy received his Masters Degree in Music Composition from Kent State University in May of 2006.  He studied composition with Dr. Thomas Janson, choral conducting with Dr. C.M. Shearer, Voice with Dr. Jane Dressler and Jazz with Professor Chas Baker.  He was the principal keyboardist for the Kent State Jazz Ensemble and a part time faculty member in the Music Theory Department.  He currently resides in Brunswick, Ohio with his wife Kristy and son Jaden.  Jeremy is the Co-Founder and Conductor of the Brunswick Community Choir and is a part of the Praise Team at Hope Church in Brunswick.  Jeremy performs regularly in and around the Cleveland area as a freelance solo jazz pianist and with his own "Jeremy Piper Jazz Combo". In the future he hopes to publish his compositions and continue to work at the church and as a jazz artist.
